Registration does not mean borough officers would have direct access to cameras. If a crime were to occur in the vicinity of a registered camera, officers could ask to see footage around the time of the incident to see if any information or leads can be gleaned.

The Abington Lions Club is holding its annual Santa Claus visit for children in the Abington Heights School District second grade and younger. Santa will visit homes in Clarks Summit, Clarks Green, Chinchilla, Waverly, Glenburn, Dalton and Newton areas Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 12 to 14, 5:30-7:30 p.m. There is no charge for the visit.

Last week's article about Christmas concerts gave the wrong date for the concert by The Wally Gordon Community Singers at Clarks Summit Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway in South Abington Township. The concert is on Saturday, Dec. 9, 6-8 p.m. The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Clarks Summit council approves quality-of-life ordinance, 2018 budget without tax increase

Borough council unanimously approved a quality-of-life ordinance that will enable borough officials and police to write tickets for property violations spanning height of weeds and grass to pet waste. The new ordinance is designed to speed up enforcement of existing regulations and be a tool to deal with habitual offenders, Borough Manager Virginia Kehoe previously said.

A 23-year-old man tried to steal a denture adhesive from Gerrity's Supermarket on Friday and fought with employees who tried to stop him, Clarks Summit police said. Employees told police the store's loss-prevention officer spotted Joshua A. Ross, of Overfield Twp., take Fixodent Poligrip from the shelf and attempt to leave without paying for it, Officer Eric Williams wrote in a criminal complaint.
